The Pirates of Penzance; or, The Slave of Duty
Sappy pirates, dewy-eyed damsels, bumbling bobbies and a stuffy Major General. Gilbert and Sullivans hilarious, hopeful farce follows young Frederic, an orphan who has mistakenly been apprenticed to an ineffectual but raucous band of pirates. He disavows the pirates way of life and falls for the beautiful Mabel. However, as Frederic was born on leap year, the Pirate King claims Frederic must remain an apprentice until his 21st birthday, when Frederic will be 8.
Pirates is promenade style theater meaning audience members will be on their feet most if not all of the performance. Please wear comfy shoes. There will be a limited number of seats available for those who are physically restrained from participating in the promenade experience.
