SCUM CLUB Presents: American Psycho
Loosely named after the SCUM Manifesto (1968) by the radical feminist Valerie Solanas, S.C.U.M. Club aims to highlight films that showcase various aspects of the female experience for better or worse. Women historically have been marginalized or relegated to films where their sole purpose is to be a love interest of a male and SCUMClub hopes to break the mold showing diverse films that pass the Bechdel Test.
HOWEVER, for March, S.C.U.M. Club is making an exception by showing a film that is the antithesis of S.C.U.M. Club: American Psycho. This film, based on a book written by Bret Easton Ellis and published in 1991, showcases toxic male misogyny and fragility and all the terrible events that occur rooted with those feelings. THIS IS NOT AN EXIT.
