wood bone mill (spring: sunset, sunrise sunset, sunrise)
As the hemisphere begins its perennial tilt back toward the sun, we are excited to present wood bone mill (spring sunset, sunrise sunset, sunrise)" April 19, 20 and 21, 2018. Despite this warm-ward facing tilt, Chicagos weather can be unpredictable in April, with blizzard and bloom feeling equally possible. We want to lean into this unpredictability, as the sun sets and the sun rises. The first performance will take place at as the sun sets at 7pm on April 19. A full solar cycle will take place the following day, April 20, with performances at 6:30am and 7pm. The final performance will take place as the sun rises on April 21 at 6:30am. Like in the fall and winter, this will all take place at Bryans home: 4870 N. Hermitage Ave. Chicago, IL.  Tickets for one performance are $10.  If you'd like to attend a sunrise and sunset performance, you can purchase a two-show ticket $15.

The performance is ~ 40 minutes. There will be coffee in the morning, light spirits in the evening.

We look forward to sharing this work with you ~
Matty and Bryan

More information:

"wood bone mill" is a site-specific performance created and performed by Matty Davis and Bryan Saner. It has something to do with age and growing and dying, using limbs to traverse the space between; it has something to do with home; with the vertical, reverting to the horizontal, the ground, the site of nourishment and disintegration.

Past performances of "wood bone mill" took place January 13/14, when the ground was frozen, the tree skeletal, and fires provided necessary warmth; as well as October 13/14, on an immaculate Chicago autumnal evening, and then amidst a downpour with Bryans son Jake having flown in from New York City.

The body of this work can be fulfilled only in time. The work's location under and in the Mulberry tree is shaped by time, responds to time, as our own bodies do and will have to. This spring performance, as well as one in summer, remains.
