Jen Kearney & The Lost Onion
The Blizzard of 2013 is in the history books, and it's time to heat things up at the Homegrown Coffeehouse. Jen Kearney blew the crowd away earlier this season with a sizzling blues & soul opening set, and we had to have her back! Kearney was still a teenager when she left the UMass Music Performance program and started recording; her first appearance was on the now-legendary Poorhouse Records compilation, working with Merrimack Valley luminaries like The Shods, Melvern Taylor, and D-Tension. Since that lofty inauguration, Kearney has recorded three albums, and her most recent, "Eat" has garnered kudos from Cambridge to Colorado, the US to Japan. The Lost Onion is an original soul/latin/funk/rock band from Boston, and they make an awesome combination. It's tough to pigeonhole this band into a particular genre and they like it that way. Jen's vocal/lyric style is ever-evolving, often compared to R&B artists Stevie Wonder, The Brand New Heavies, Donny Hathaway, and Erykah Badu. JEN KEARNEY & THE LOST ONION at the Homegrown Coffeehouse, Saturday, February 23, at 8:00 P.M. The Homegrown Coffeehouse is located at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, at the corner of Great Plain and Dedham Avenue in Needham center. There is free parking and full handicapped access. Admission is $15.00 / $12.00 students and seniors to benefit the Church. For more information, call (781) 444-7478, or visit us at www.uuneedham.org/Coffeehouse for directions, performer links, and advance tickets.
