Friendly Ever After at Bath Fringe Festival
Friendly Ever After is an examination of childhood friendships and a portrayal of childrens early social experiences. It has been developed and produced for 5 to 11 year old children by Maria and Joao, childrens educational professionals, who are also the actors in this play. Friendly ever after was successfully presented at numerous schools in Lisbon and Madeira over the past 7 years and now is being rolled out to schools in the South West of England. The show has been fully developed using professional theatre clown techniques which uses physical rather than verbal language. This stimulates the childrens creativity and imagination and makes them consciously aware of their own social experiences. The show also offers the children the opportunity to appreciate and learn about the culture of theatre at their own school.
Friendly Ever After is a touching story of Sarmento and Daluz, two young clowns trying to find true friendship. When fate unites them, they realise that cultivating a new friendship is not an easy job, particularly at this early stage of their lives. They discover together the beauty of friendship and the need to respect, help and understand ones friend.
Between the many jokes, arguments, disputes and amusing moments, Sarmento and Daluz discover, with the help of the young audience that friendship can be deeper and more rewarding if they simply start to act with genuine kindness, tolerance and empathy with one another.
