Silicon Valley Oncology Nursing Society April Educational Dinner Meeting
Speaker: Helen Shih, NP. MPH Helen Shih is a nurse practitioner for thoracic and sarcoma oncology at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. She sees patients with non-small cell lung cancer, small cell lung cancer, neuroendocrine tumors, sarcomas, thyroid cancers and mesothelioma. Helen Shih graduated as an adult nurse practitioner (ANP) from the Columbia University School of Nursing. Previously, she received her Master of Public Health degree in epidemiology from UCLA and a bachelor's degree in molecular cell biology from UC Berkeley
Learning Objectives: 1. Understand the various mutations found in NSCLC, with a focus on ALK+ disease 2. Provide an overview of molecular testing 3. Understand the role of sequencing TKIs and post-progression treatment alternatives
