Nikolai Erdman's Soviet Era Classic Comedy "The Suicide" in HD
Captured on film before a live audience from Moscow's Theatre Art Studio, Stage Russia presents an HD production of Sergey Zhenovach's masterful staging of Nicolai Erdman's classic Soviet era black comedy "The Suicide".
The play, banned for over 60 years, tells the story of a simple man who, in frustration over his failed life, decides to end it all. He is then besieged by men and women who wish for him to die for their cause. Flattered, the man accepts all offers, but then slowly realizes that he now actually must go through with it. A brilliant, scathing satire that, by all accounts, is one of the finest plays to come out of communist Russia.
Presented in English with Russian subtitles.
180 minutes (includes a 15 minute intermission)
A free screening (with an optional $10 donation per ticket)
Free Parking available on the Peavine & Fishburne decks via the North Decatur Rd. entrance.
