Wen-Do Women's Self-Defence workshop at WLU (Brantford campus)
Tap into your knowing. Your awareness. Your power.
As women and girls, we have been told that we are not strong enough, fast enough or loud enough to escape danger. We have been told that violence that happens to us is our fault.
Wen-Do is different than any other self-defence program you have seen. It is all about you, your body, your abilities and your power. It is about meeting you where you and your body are, exactly as they are, today. It is powerful self-defence designed to be used against physically larger and stronger attackers.
This course is being organized by the WLU Office of Dispute Resolution and Support. Funding is provided by the Women's Campus Safety Grant.
Wen-Do course content and this location are accessible. Wheelchair users are welcome. We break stereotypes in this space. Wen-Do is open to all women and this of course includes transwomen. If you are a gendequeer or gender nonbinary person and you are wondering if this course is for you, please contact Shailagh at wendosha[at]riseup[dot]net.
Wen-Do is survivor-centered, empowerment-based, accessible and intersectional self-defence. Together, we will strive to create a nonjudgmental space that respects each others' choices and lifestyles. With discussion, storytelling, physical technique instruction and practice, we get to witness ourselves and each other in our power.
Why wait? Now is the best time to improve your self-defence skills.
The workshop is taking place Sunday March 11th 9am-5pm both days. The location will be given to attendees upon registration.
