On the Road Tour - Pacific NW; Beauty in Our Own Backyard
We will start our tour at Watershed Garden Works. They specialize in Pacific Northwest Native plants. In addition to natives, they carry a custom seed collection and a wide variety of ornamentals and edibles including jams and jellies. The nursery is an organic farm, and has been in the Edwards family since 1962. Next stop is Kigi Nursery. A specialty nursery that focuses on dwarf and miniature conifers, deciduous trees, shrubs, perennials. And most exciting LIVE MOSS, which has so many uses from green roofs to salamander habits to wedding events. Finally, we will take a beautiful drive up the East Fork of the Lewis River. High up in the hills is an area called Dole Valley. This is where we will find Silver Star Vinery - an exclusive clematis nursery.
You will be astonished when you walk among the hundreds of clematis of every color under the rainbow in Silver Stars display garden. Owner Deb Fischer will give us a short workshop on how to prune clematis.
