Dean Owens: Southern Wind - Album Launch (London)
Celtic spirit, Country soul
A chance to get up close and personal with musician Dean Owens, acclaimed as one of UK's finest singer songwriters.
A very special gig to celebrate the release of new album Southern Wind, which has been getting 4 and 5 star reviews across the board, including Mojo, R2 Magazine, Country Music, Folk Radio UK, Daily Express, No Depression and loads more.
Armed with a searingly soulful voice, skillfully crafted stories and earworm-generating melodies, Dean's music conjures the open road's wild romanticism, whilst searching for, and combining the primal sounds of two very different countries.
In the songs you'll hear the legacy of the open plains drifters and box-car jumpers, the perfume of Autumn heather, the copper burn of a single malt or a smoky late night bar-room bourbon, the unfettered enthusiasm of early rock n roll coupled with the sympathetic delivery of folk's storytellers.
In Sep 2017 he became the first Scottish musician to officially showcase at Americanafest in Nashville, a trip which also saw him joining the Mavericks on stage and a mention in Rolling Stone.
Dean will be joined on stage by guitarist Jim Maving (Case Hardin, Don Gallardo etc).
"hits a sweet spot" (4 stars) MOJO
"his songwriting craft can stand proudly with the best around... albums like this don't come around too often" FATEA
"borders on genius... A-List" (5 stars) Country Music People
'a voice like Roddy Frame inhabited by the soul of Ryan Adams or laid back Ronnie Lane...' (4 stars) Daily Express
'one of the standout Americana artists dwelling this side of the pond...' Lonesome Highway
"Scotland's most engaging and haunting singer songwriter..." Irvine Welsh
The follow up to 2015's acclaimed Into the Sea album, Southern Wind was also recorded in Nashville, with producer Neilson Hubbard. It is released on At The Helm Records.
