Brandi Alexander
The year is 1987 and Brandi Alexander is prepping for her comeback stand-up comedy tour, and for her first return gig - she'll be the opening act for the man who assaulted her. A blistering new solo show from fearless newcomer Tatiana Pavela, Brandi Alexander assaults a complacent society that is all too comfortable with sexual misconduct. Directed by Maggie Rogers (WET, Horse in Motion), the world premiere of Brandi Alexander debuts at Capitol Hill's Love City Love for a 4 show engagement starting May 24th.
Five years prior to curtain, Brandi was raped by her friend and colleague after a comedy show. Emerging from a long hiatus of self-loathing, alcohol abuse, and chicken nuggets; Brandi reinvents herself and finally lets loose. With cheap liquor burning her throat and a protective layer of Aqua Net, Brandi takes centerstage and dares to be a woman in the man's world of comedy. Combining performance art, 80s culture, and an absurd and caustic sense of humor, this is stand-up gone radically wrong.
