"Rosalinde Block's DRAMA OF A GIFTED GROWNUP brilliantly mixes the pathos and humor of her fascinating journey. Her sharp wit and ability to instantly weave in and out of numerous characters harkens comparisons to David Sedaris."-Eric Woodall, CSA, Director/Casting Director
New York artist and Billboard Award-Winning musician Rosalinde Block's multi-media solo show bursts with life and humor as she recreates her 40-plus-year journey navigating the 1970s and 80s pre-funk music scene in the city that never sleeps. With the biggest names in the business popping up at every bend, turn and roadblock, she charges forward through life and love in her unstoppable quest to be at the top.
Rosalinde grew up in St. Louis picking out Gershwin on the piano and serenading her parents' friends with Ella hits in her husky little voice. Realizing that her daughter had no interest in being a classical musician, her mother relented: Play the piano at parties, itll make you popular. Rosalinde's entrée into the music business skewed from recording her first demos at CBS to working in over 150 piano bars. Fast-forward to marriage, divorce and single-parenthood, her career careened into writing and illustrating childrens books, where even landing a top agent didnt detour her from those Catch-22 moments, Youre a fresh, new voice. But youre an unknown. Finding herself the sudden caregiver for her dying ex-husband and survival-guide for her son through his fatherless teens, her forward motion in the business halted, and all goals went on the back burner. As the 11th hour of life came and went on a daily basis, it suddenly occurred to her to ask, what would happen if nothing ever happened?
PRESS & INDUSTRY "Exciting! Rosalinde takes you on a heartfelt and musical journey into her mind and the world of the struggling but ever hopeful artist". -Terry Schnuck, Broadway Producer (Sunset Boulevard, Beautiful, the Carole King Musical)
"Drama of the Gifted Grownup is hilarious and courageous. If you've ever wondered how to fan the fires of a lifelong dream while living in a world of responsibilities and setbacks, here is one artists answer."-Rick Rappaport, Writer/Director, New York
"Rosalinde is funny, gifted, compelling. Brava!"-Susan Kagan, New York
