Songs of William Blake & Charles Causley
The North Cambridge Family Opera Company (NCFOC) will present a benefit concert of songs by William Blake and Charles Causley set to music by David Haines. The talented young British soprano, Stephanie Green, will be accompanied by David Haines in a performance of the Songs of Experience, by William Blake. The second half of the concert will see the American premiere of Seven Songs to Poems by Charles Causley performed by members of the Teignmouth Community Choir of Devon and invited Boston area singers. Causley (1917-2003), a Cornish poet, had strong links to, and affection for, David's chosen home town of Teignmouth in Devon, England. David will discuss his approach to this highly eclectic selection of Causley's work, ranging in mood from boisterous humour to dark bleakness and wistful nostalgia.
Desserts and tea will follow the concert.
Also, you may purchase tickets for a MEET THE COMPOSER reception scheduled before the concert - 6:00 PM, at 48 Porter Road (just two blocks from the Masonic Hall). The reception will feature a light buffet and wine.
