SHOP TALK
Shop Talk will see a panel of guests grappling with the question: Does this stuff make any difference? Culture, arts and creativity in relation to place and place making.
Confirmed speakers: Zoe Seaton, Artistic Director - Big Telly Theatre Company, Portstewart, Northern Ireland Stefan Riebel, The Institut für Alles Mögliche, Berlin Dan Thompson, Empty Shops Network, Margate Bex Phillips, Assemble Fest, Hull Orit Azaz, Birmimgham Chaired by Chris O'Connell, Artistic Director - Theatre Absolute & The Shop Front Theatre, Coventry
What impact can culture have on the places and spaces in which we live? For example, why put theatre in an empty shop? If we re-imagine and challenge the way we experience our city and the culture within it, what are the benefits for the surrounding community. Do the choices artists make about where and how to work really make any difference to place making, and truly influence both local infrastructural development and policy change?
The event will be aimed in particular at city based artists and makers, local authority, community agencies, funding organisations and the general public.
The event is free - seats need to be reserved due to shop front theatre capacity.
