Singing vibrant duets, writing deadly songs, playing handmade banjos and loving old acoustic guitars, Pharis and Jason Romero have a classic story. When some scratchy old records and a custom banjo led to their meeting in 2007, they quickly knew they were in for the long haul. They've since released five records - three as a duo - and toured across North America and the UK. They've won a Juno award, been featured on NPR Music, CBC, BBC, and Folk Alley, and have performed on A Prairie Home Companion and CBC's The Vinyl Cafe. They are passionate teachers and believers in many things folk, and their heartbreakingly harmonic live show is an ever-evolving and never-ending quest for good songs and beautiful sounds.
Joining Pharis and Jason for this show are longtime collaborators and musical friends Marc Jenkins on pedal steel and Patrick Metzger on bass. Jenkins produced the Romero's newest release "Sweet Old Religion", and both were guests on the record. Staples of their musical scenes in Victoria and Vancouver, respectively, these two are musician's musicians, with a dynamic beauty that will highlight a very rare evening of Pharis and Jason with a full band. Sweet Old Religion will be released in May. Part duets and part featuring guests, this album is Pharis & Jason at their very finest and their most open.
Tickets are transferable but not refundable. Children over the age of 2 years must be in a ticketed seat and must remain seated during the performance. Parents are asked to not leave children unattended at any time on the farm.
