Rab Noakes at EFC / Edinburgh Folk Club

Tonight we welcome back Rab Noakes, one of Scotland's top singers, songwriters and producers.

Rab is a force to be reckoned with in the world of music in Scotland and beyond.

At the outset of 2018 Rab took part in a series of appearances at Celtic Connections each featuring songs from repertoires other than his own songs. Theyre being followed throughout the year with more solo shows which will, of course, feature Noakes compositions. Therell also be a few creative collaborations.

For this year Rab will be Hitting the right note in 2018. In June therell be a new album Welcome to Anniversaryville featuring new songs and some revisits to landmark songs.

In many ways this year will be a continuation of 2017s activities but will be entirely refreshed. The solo shows will feature the customary mixture of Rabs songs with a few of his personal interpretations.

I recent years Rab has been receiving lifetime awards from Nordoff-Robbins and Hands Up For Trad. These recognise the, now lengthy, contribution made be an artist of substance with a 21st century attitude combined with a long memory. If you havent seen Rab before, its time to correct that. If you have, you can rest assured all the qualities youve enjoyed are alive and well.
