In light of the struggles we face in our country with an abundance of social issues, this class will address Poetry of Witness and Poetry of Protest. We will discuss several poems in this genre of poetry and go through the process of writing one poem of witness and one poem of protest. We will also discuss the impact these poems have as published pieces and as Spoken Word pieces. Bring a notebook and pen/pencil or a laptop, and definitely bring your passion for poetry!
