Stapleton Ballet's "Coppelia" and Repertory Works, Spring 2018
March 30-April 1 Fri & Sat 7:00 Sat & Sun 2:00 The Playhouse, San Anselmo
Stapleton Ballet presents our Spring 2018 production of the ballet COPPÉLIA. COPPÉLIA is a delightful story ballet that appeals to all ages, following a mysterious inventor, Dr. Coppelius, who has made an enchanting, life-size dancing doll. Franz, a village youth who is engaged to his sweetheart Swanhilda, flirts and becomes infatuated with Dr. Coppelius' life-like dancing doll, Coppélia. Swanhilda decides to play a trick on both Franz and Dr. Coppelius by dressing as the doll and pretending to come to life! This lighthearted ballet has been performed by many world-renowned companies. It was first presented in 1870 and features a gorgeous score by Leo Delibes.
We will also present Repertory Works as part of the Spring ballet show. Repertory will include Balanchine's WHO CARES (set to the music of George Gershwin) and Cynthia Stanley's INLET.
