Co-Chaired by Senator Kevin Meyer and Representative Gabrielle LeDoux, a recognition celebration and award ceremony will take place at the Woodland Park Boys & Girls Club.
This event will determine which of our outstanding teen members will be named the 2018 Alaska State Youth of the Year, and move on to the regional event to represent our state. There will be two titles awarded through this process; 2018 Military Clubs Youth of the Year, and 2018 Traditional Clubs Youth of the Year.
Participation in Boys & Girls Clubs of Americas Youth of the Year program is an honor for Club members. Each year, hundreds of deserving youth across the country are recognized for their efforts in making their Clubs and communities more positive places for everyone.
The Youth of the Year program richly demonstrates the impact of Boys & Girls Clubs on the lives of young people. Boys & Girls Clubs help youth enter the world with positive self-identity; educational, social, emotional and cultural competencies; community and civic involvement; healthy lifestyles and a moral compass attributes and capabilities they need to become responsible, successful citizens and community leaders.
