PRESENTATION: Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Project Update
The nearly 60-foot diameter, four lane, double-decker tunnel is anticipated to be open to traffic later this year, but that will just be the kick-off for the waterfront transformation that has been promised. Demolition of the Viaduct will commence shortly after traffic is moved into the tunnel along with the decommissioning of the Battery Street Tunnel and the re-connection of surface streets at the north portal of the tunnel. This presentation will provide an update on the Viaduct Replacement Program and the upcoming demolition and street reconstruction projects.
PRESENTERS: Brian Smith CCP, PMP and James Farris, PE
Brian is the Project Controls Manager with Mott MacDonald for the Viaduct Replacement Program and he is currently the Seattle Sections Director of Education. Brian has 30 plus years experience in Project Controls in both the private and public sectors in a variety of industries including Mining, Wastewater Treatment, Aircraft Manufacturing, Power Generation, Light Rail, Highways and now, Tunnels.
Jim is the Assistant Project Engineer for the AWV design office. Recent projects include: SR99 Connections, which will connect the south portal of the bored tunnel to SR 99 and surface streets and the SR 99 Demolition, Decommissioning and Surface Street project. Jim is a registered Civil Engineer in the State of Washington and has 27 years experience in design and construction with the Department of Transportation.

COST:
The member price for this event is $32.00 if you register before 12:00 Noon on the Monday immediately preceding the meeting; late registration is $37.00.
Non-members price is $39.00 before 12:00 Noon on the Monday immediately preceding the meeting, and $45.00 thereafter.
Please note that registration will be closed Monday, March 5th, at 8:00 pm.
A very limited of first come first served meals will be available at the door.
MENU:
New York Strip, Cilantro-Lime Marinated Halibut with Lemon Salsa Verde, and Vegetarian (requires one week advance notice).

AACE Seattle Section meets the 2nd Thursday of each month from September through May (excluding December). Each meeting with a technical presentation qualifies for .25 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) towards your CCP/CEP/CFCC/DRMP/EVP/PSP recertification requirements.
