An Evening of Extremely Funny, Physical Theatre to Benefit Clowns Without Borders
THE SHOW: The 11th annual Portland Clowns Without Borders Benefit show promises to be a raucous evening of laughter for all ages. Live music will accompany clowns, jugglers, comic ninjas, acrobats, and more.
Some of Portland's finest and funniest vaudevillian performers have come together in support of this great cause, including the Shoe Horn VonTap Quartet, Nanda, Fist of Dishonor, members and affiliates of Do Jump!, the Nomadic Theatre Co, and Michael O'Neill of The Other Brothers.
ABOUT CLOWNS WITHOUT BORDERS (CWB): Clowns Without Borders is an international organization which offers laughter to relieve the suffering of all persons, especially children, who live in areas of crisis around the world, including refugee camps, conflict zones and territories in situations of emergency. We bring levity and contemporary clown/circus oriented performances and workshops into communities so that they can celebrate together and forget for a moment the tensions that darken their daily lives. In the past year alone, Clowns Without Borders-USA sent nine expeditions to areas of crisis across the globe including Sudan, Guatemala, Southern Africa, Haiti, and areas of the US affected by Hurricane Katrina. Portland is a hub of active CWB volunteers, and this annual benefit is their main source of funding.
