Upright Bass with Markie Sanders -- San Francisco Bluegrass & Old-Time Festival
In this hour and a half workshop, Markie Sanders will cover the basics of hand position, tone, timing and finding, feeling, and projecting groove with conviction!
Markie is a veteran of the West Coast Bay Area music scene, starting in the late 1960's playing bluegrass plus many other styles. She grew up on classical piano, but then took a left turn when she discovered the banjo in 1967, then started playing bass, self-taught, learning on stage. She lived in Nashville 14 years, touring, recording and performing, including performances on Nashville Now (tv show), Opryland and The Grand 'Ol Opry. She is held in high regard for her solid timing and an ability to get inside the groove.
