DIAMETER OF THE BOMB presented by AJC SEATTLE JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL 2006
DIAMETER OF THE BOMB w/Security Groove (short) 9:00 PM
Directors: Steven Silver and Andrew Quigley Country/Year: UK/Canada, 2005 Language: English Running Time: 86 min. Format: 35mm
The unimaginable pain and anguish felt by the families of those killed in suicide bombings gets a human face in this documentary. In 2002, a suicide bombing on Bus 32 in Jerusalem left 20 dead and 50 injured. The film connects the stories of a group of ordinary Israelis -- Jews and Arabs, each one connected to someone who died that day. Two years after the tragedy even the most innocuous city landmarks can release a tidal wave of angst for the families of those killed in the blast. From firsthand accounts from survivors to the lingering suspicions and animosity that extend the damaging effects of the bombing well beyond the range of any explosion. DIAMETER OF THE BOMB remarkably explores the lingering effects of this vicious cycle from all sides.
