Behind the Scenes with SFDanceworks 2: The Dancer/Choreographer Relationship and Creative Process
Join SFDanceworks for our second salon evening of 2018 with a panel discussion and reception featuring SFDW artists and collaborators. In the intimate setting of a private residence located in Russian Hill, artistic director James Sofranko will take you behind the scenes with dancers and choreographers Brett Conway, Anne Zivolich-Adams, and Danielle Rowe to discuss the relationship between a choreographer and dancers during the creative process. Learn how a new dance is created and hear examples of the artists' experiences. We welcome and encourage you to be part of the conversation during this Q&A salon. A wine and light bites reception proceeds and follows the program.
Brett Conway danced for eight years with Alonzo Kings LINES Ballet in San Francisco and has also danced with Nederlands Dans Theater 1 where he worked with choreographers Jiri Kylian, Paul Lightfoot and Sol Leon, Mats Ek, Crystal Pite and Ohad Naharin amongst others. Brett is currently a freelance artist and on faculty with the LINES Ballet Educational Programs. This will be Brett's second season performing with SFDW.
Danielle Rowe is originally from Australia, and has performed with The Australian Ballet, Houston Ballet, Nederlands Dans Theater, and SFDW. As a choreographer, she has worked with SFDW, Grand Rapids Ballet, Diablo Ballet, and Berkeley Ballet Theater. Her work "For Pixie" was seen in Season Two, and she is creating a world premiere for Season Three.
Anne Zivolich-Adams danced with Chicago's Hubbard Street 2 before joining ODC/Dance in 2003 for 12 years and was nominated for three Isadora Duncan Dance Awards. Anne performed in SFDW's Inaugural Season and will be returning for Season Three in June of 2018.
All proceeds from the evening will directly benefit SFDanceworks Season Three, June 8-10 at the Cowell Theater, San Francisco.
Space is limited to the first 30 ticket buyers.
