Part flesh, part felt and packed with heart!

In a collaboration between the talented students of both schools, WHS and PVHS students will work together to present the side splitting hit musical comedy, Avenue Q School Edition. This Broadway hit, with equal parts puppetry, comedy and a great musical score, has been adapted for the school stage from the original production, which won the Tony "Triple Crown" for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book. Avenue Q School Edition is a laugh-out loud musical that tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that although the residents seem nice, it is clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. Together, Princeton and his new-found friends struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in life.
Filled with gut-busting humor and a delightfully catchy score, not to mention puppets, Avenue Q is a truly unique show that has quickly become a favorite for audiences everywhere.

Like real life, but funnier!

Directed by David Scott with choreography by Gabriel Robledo and Janet Johns, and vocal direction by Meri Pezzoni, the show features music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, with book by Jeff Whitty, based on an original concept by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx. Avenue Q School Edition features human characters and puppets who interact, much like on Sesame Street, as if human. Student actors operate the puppets in full view, using both their hands while singing, acting and dancing at the same time.

Because the original Avenue Q has some content elements that have previously made it a difficult choice for some high school productions, MTI worked with the Avenue Q authors to create an adaptation that maintains the dramatic (and comedic) intention and integrity of the piece, while editing it to make it more appropriate for high school audiences and performers.

This production is rated pg-13 and parents should be cautioned that some material may be inappropriate for young children.

Tickets are $7 for students, senior citizens and educators; $10 for general admission.  Tickets are available at the door or online.
