METALLIC BLUES presented by AJC SEATTLE JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL 2006
METALLIC BLUES w/The Red Toy (short) 9:00 PM
Director: Dan Verete Country/Year: Canada/Germany/Israel, 2005 Language: Hebrew, German and English w/subtitles Running Time: 90 min Format: 35mm
A warm and engaging road-movie about two Israeli car dealers (played by popular Israeli actors, Avi Kushnir and Moshe Igvy of Speilberg's MUNICH; also starring in CAMPFIRE, SJFF March 18) who buy a vintage American-made limousine hoping to get rich quick by selling it in Hamburg. When everything that could possibly go wrong, does, our heroes are faced with unexpected truths about friendship, reconciliation and the ghosts of Germany's dark past. This offbeat, largely comic treatment of present-day German-Jewish relations is carried off with great zest by the lead characters against the gritty backdrop of present day Hamburg. This film won Best Script and Best Actor (Moshe Igvy) Awards at 21st International Film Festival of Jerusalem.

A Palestinian boy finds a red toy and loses it. Police surveillance cameras observe the toy as it is passed around the old city of Jerusalem, a journey both harmless and ominous.
