True West
IIn collaboration with Red Curtain Foundation for the Arts, Porch Couch Productions is proud to take on Sam Shepard's dark comedy, "True West".
Austin, a screenwriter and Ivy-League graduate, house sits for his mother while working on his next project. Things are complicated by the arrival of his older brother Lee, a thief and a drunkard who has spent the last several months living out in the Mojave Desert. Despite Austin's attempts, Lee's presence begins to encroach more and more upon his professional life. Things then begin to take on an unexpected turn, and each brother finds his core identity being challenged more and more, inviting recklessness and utter chaos into their mother's quiet, Southern California suburban home.
This tale of a sibling rivalry pushed to its limits is one of the late Sam Shepard's best known works, and we are thrilled to be bringing it to the stage to share with audiences once again.
Performances are Friday and Saturday night at 8 p.m., with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee.
