Guys and Dolls
Considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy, "Guys and Dolls" ran for 1,200 performances when it opened on Broadway in 1950 and won 5 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It has been revived on Broadway four times since, most recently in 2009, and is always a crowd-pleaser. Taking us from the heart of Times Square to a cafe in Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, this musical is an oddball romantic comedy which transports us into a colorful world mixed with gangsters, showgirls and missionaries! With a brassy, immortal score and one of the funniest scripts ever written, this is truly a treat for audiences and performers of any age. Guys and Dolls will be performed 9 times over two weekends at Stockton Civic Theatre: February 22 March 4, 2018 and is appropriate for all ages.
The musical is directed by Kevin Costello, with musical direction by Josh Landin and choreography by Evelyn Barney. Technical direction and set design is by Brian Johnson, with costumes by Annette MacKay and Carol Wyrick, lighting by Craig Vincent and sound by Rich Matheson. All performances will be held at Stockton Civic Theatre, located at 2312 Rosemarie Lane in Stockton: Thursday, February 22 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, February 23 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, February 24 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday February 25 at 2:00 p.m.; Thursday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, March 3 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, March 4 at 2:00 p.m. Patrons are advised to purchase tickets ahead of time.
