From the birth of photography through the modern age, with more than a million historic photographs, The Burns Archives is best known for providing photographic evidence of forgotten and unseen history. The cornerstone of the Burns Archives is it's unparalleled collection of early medical photography, but it is also renowned for it's iconic images depicting the darker side of life: Death, Disease, Disaster, Mayhem, Crime, Racism, Revolution and War.
Recently, Dr. Stanley Burns, MD, Elizabeth Burns (Creative and Operations Director) and The Burns Archives served as medical, historical and technical advisors for two medical dramas, Mercy Street and The Knick.
