Traditions Festival
Fans of CFMs retired Fiddlers & Fishermen program are sure to enjoy this evening of traditional songs from New England and Ireland, performed by both local and international artists. Steeped in the rich musical traditions of their native counties of Meath and Limerick, respectively, award-winning concertina player Brenda Castles and harpist and vocalist Niamh Ní Bhríain will join us from Ireland, performing traditional tunes from home. Warren, RI-based mandolin and bouzouki artist Otis Read will be joined by Cathy Clasper-Torch on fiddle and Jim Corwin on guitar in a set of traditional tunes from around New England, as well as a few originals. Dedicated to seeking out traditional folk songs from their home state of Rhode Island, young duo The Vox Hunters - Armand Aromin (fiddle, voice) and Benedict Gagliardi (concertina, vocals, guitar) - will perform Ocean State broadside ballads and other traditional tunes from Rhode Island. We hope you will join us for the joy and warmth of this evening dedicated to the songs of old!
This show will take place at Common Fence Music's Portsmouth Mainstage, an intimate 200 seat listening room located at Common Fence Point Hall, 933 Anthony Road, Portsmouth, RI. Doors open at 7pm, the show begins at 8pm. All Portsmouth shows are BYOB & picnic.
