This six-week course features lectures and lively discussions, but there are no papers to write and no final test!
Heidi Brayman, associate professor of English at the University of California, Riverside, leads this seminar focusing on Elizabethan plays chronicling the Hundred Years' War (1337-1453). Topics will examine questions of language, authorship, and nationalism in Christopher Marlowe's Edward II, the anonymously authored Edward III, and Shakespeare's Richard II and Henry IV. Group discussions will also explore the roles of women, family, and friendship in dramas of the state.
Seminar will be held in the Munger Research Center, Seaver Classroom 3. Visit any admission window for directions to the Munger Research Center for check-in at 9:45 a.m.
