This session will help participants to create a strategic plan and budget for opening a practice. Topics covered include: *Start up costs such as selecting a facility, staffing, equipment, legal and accounting. *The need for a solid legal structurewill your entity be a PC, LLC, etc? *The need to arrange for a Medicare provider number, and credentialing with hospitals and health plans.
*Staffing and outsourcing of billing and other support services. Insurance needs such as malpractice and general liability insurance
*Marketing your practice.
At the conclusion of the presentation, participants will be able to:
*List items to include in a strategic plan for starting a practice.
*Describe the legal and regulatory issues that will need to be addressed in order to start a practice.
*Discuss issues to consider when deciding which form the new entity will take (professional corporation, LLC, etc.).
*List some pros and cons of outsourcing office functions, such as billing, bookkeeping, etc.
