Snap on 2&4 w/ James DaSilva
On Friday, March 9 at 8pm the Nashville Jazz Workshop will present guitarist James DaSilva in a encore performance in the Jazz Cave's Snap on 2&4 series.
James will be joined by Rahsaan Barber (saxophone), Jody Nardone (piano), Jack Aylor (bass), and Josh Hunt (drums).
A creative and versatile guitarist, James has performed numerous times at the Jazz Workshop and has been the "go to" for contemporary jazz projects. For the upcoming performance, he plans to assemble a band and music for a contemporary album project to be released in the fall.
James DaSilva is a session guitarist, composer, and educator living in Nashville, TN. He is a recent graduate of Belmont University with a Bachelor's degree in Music Business. While in school, James played electric guitar in some of the school's top music ensembles under the direction of Dr. Jeff Kirk (Maynard Ferguson) and Rahsaan Barber. He has enjoyed various honors and awards throughout his young career including Grammy Camp 2007 Full Scholarship winner and 2007 Thor Johnson Music Scholarship winner.
As an educator, James maintains a busy schedule teaching private students encompassing all styles and techniques. He has been an instructor at The Jam Summer Music Camp since 2008, where he coaches rock groups and provides genre-based clinics. James has been involved with the Fine Arts Summer Academy (F.A.S.A) since 2009, where he instructs guitar ensembles and provides private lessons with students. In addition, James has been a faculty member of the Conservatory of Annie Moses in Nashville, TN since 2013, where he has teaches composition & arranging, classical guitar, and jazz improvisation. James also teaches at the Nashville Jazz Workshop.
As both a performance and studio musician, he has worked with artists and musicians such as Phil Lassiter, Chris Rodriguez, the Latin Jazz group "El Movimiento", Rahsaan Barber & Everyday Magic, Adam Nitti, Rod McGaha's United for Peace Orchestra, Tommy Simms, Phil Keaggy, Keb Mo', Marcus Finnie Band, Jack White, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Rodney Whittaker, and the Jeff Coffin Mu'tet.
There will be two sets beginning at 8:00 pm in the Jazz Cave at the Workshop. Admission is $25 / $15 high school and college students with ID. Tickets will go on sale Monday February 26 at 10AM and will be available online on this page, by phone 24/7 at Brown Paper Tickets (800-838-3006) or during business hours at the NJW office (242-5299). A small convenience charge is added to online or 800-number purchases.
Policies: The Jazz Cave is a BYOB establishment, with no alcohol or food service. You are free to bring alcoholic beverages and snacks. We sell soft drinks and bottled water. The Jazz Cave is a listening room, and we ask patrons to keep conversation to a minimum and silence cell phones. Audio and video recording is prohibited. Ticket sales are final.
The Nashville Jazz Workshop is a nonprofit organization offering classes for all ages, instruments, and levels, public performances, and special events for the community.
