April 7 Maryland Frederick Douglas & Harriet Tubman Experience
Those who established the abolitionist movement and the underground railroad led the nation to embrace Americans of African Descent in the White House. In this tour you will meet them where it all began. Your 12 hour bus tour will take you from the historic African American Liberation Community in Gaithersburg and time travel east of DC aboard the "Pearl" pursuing Liberation with 70 others from enslavement in DC. Crossing the Chesapeake Bay you will visit events and sites associated with the Liberation of Frederick Douglass on the Eastern Shore. We will enjoy a visit to the preeminant Liberation community established by Frederick Douglass fellow UGRR self liberators from the Wye Concentration Camp and returned to found Unionville after fighting in the USCT to liberate others. Next you will time travel to 3 events and sites associated with the Liberation of Harriet Tubman reaching to freedom for her and her family via Delaware to Canada, including the brand new Harriet Tubman Museum near her birthplace. This tour is honored to include members of Harriet Tubman's Grandfathers' Ross Family. The tour will conclude with a visit to the headwaters of the Choptank river where Harriet escaped to freedom in 169 years ago. Full liberation tour details are available by clicking this link:
