Beatles for Ukulele Workshop with Ben Carr
Join us Monday, February 19th for a Ukulele Workshop with Ben Carr at The Spot on Kirk!
The Fab Four's music falls so nicely upon the uke's fretboard. Ben Carr will lead you through some classics and a few selections perfect for solo arrangements. The workshop will focus on specific strum patterns for the songs, finger-picking, singing, and various ways to play the Beatles with others! If you own the yellow Daily Uke Book, please bring it along. If you don't own one, that's ok! Handouts will be available.
This workshop is open to all ages and skill levels. Any person under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Limited space available.
About Ben Carr: Ben Carr is a Vermont-based musician focused on the education and performance of the ukulele, drums, and percussion. He approaches the ukulele in a unique way -- using intricate strum patterns, finger-picking, percussive tones, looped beats/riffs, and harmonic textures. With solo ukulele performances that include both original compositions and covers that flow from jazz standards and classical to rock and reggae, Ben fuses traditional techniques and classical styles with modern songwriting. He thrives on taking the instrument to places that are not commonly explored. Carr has shared the stage with Jim Beloff, Lil' Rev, Victoria Vox, Gerald Ross, Stu Fuchs, and more. Ben is also graduate of the James Hill Ukulele Initiative.
