Talley's Folly by Lanford Wison Directed by Andrew Pederson
Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1980, Talley's Folly is play about kindred spirits fumbling towards each other over the course of a single evening in Lebanon, Missouri in 1944. Matt Friedman, a St. Louis accountant, travels to Lebanon to ask Sally to marry him. Separated by cultures, age, and geography Matt and Sally discover that the distance between them is really no distance at all. With great compassion and humor, Matt and Sally discover the truth about themselves, their yearnings, and the hope they place in each other.
Lanford Wilson Lanford Wilson (April 13, 1937 March 24, 2011) was an American playwright who helped to advance the Off-Off-Broadway theater movement, producing his earliest plays in New York at the Caffe Cino in 1964. He received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1980 and was elected in 2001 to the Theater Hall of Fame. In 2004, Wilson was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters and received the PEN/Laura Pels International Foundation for Theater Award as a Master American Dramatist. He was nominated for three Tony Awards and has won a Drama Desk Award and an Obie Award.
Andrew Pederson Andy Pederson is a playwright and assistant professor of English at Concordia University Chicago. His plays have been produced in Chicago, Atlanta, Memphis, Vermont and The Mid-American Theatre Conference. A member of the Dramatists' Guild and alumnus of Goddard College's MFA program, he is resident playwright of The Just Passing By Theatre Company. He has written several plays for young audiences, most recently Chivalry Me Timbers!. Andy teaches an array of courses at CUC, including Greek and Roman Mythology, Secondary English Methods, Introduction to Creative Writing, and Fiction Writing. He has directed several shows at CUC, most recently, Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and the upcoming Talley's Folly by Lanford Wilson.
