Classical Chinese New Year Celebration
Cellist Jessica Chen and violinist Wai Mizutani usher in the Chinese New Year by performing Chinese Classical music.

Ms. Chen is a very active cellist in Taiwan, born in Taichung where she began studying the cello at the age of nine. At 11, she won the Music Competition in Taichung City , cello division, and later won the National Music Competition in Taiwan , both adolescent section and adult section. She also won the Concerto Competition held by Taipei City Symphony Orchestra, and performed with the orchestra under the baton of Shao-Chia Lu. With merit scholarship, she studied with Marion Feldman and Lorne Munroe at Manhattan School of Music, New York.
As a founding member of Ars Trio Taipei, Jessica and her group members have performed many concerts since 1994, and attended Festivals including the 5th Music Festival in Costa Rica, Banff Music Festival and FAME Music Festival, and they also toured in Taiwan, United States and Israel. She also is the founder and artistic director of the Taiwan Classical Music Society and sharing her time with playing solo concerts, teaching, giving master classes, organizing seminars.
She now is an associated professor of National Taipei University of Education, Shih-Chien University and National Taichung University.
Wai Mizutani/Violinist
Mizutani graduated from the Juilliard School of Music and his career has included orchestral performances with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic and Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and soloist for various orchestras across the globe, including the West Coast Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Sinfonietta in Taiwan, Puccini Sinfonietta in Italy, Moscow Chamber Orchestra and Manhattan Symphony Orchestra. Mizutani has been recognized for his noted performances in Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall, as well as for securing top honors for the Taiwan International Competition and Five Towns Violin Competition. Throughout his career, he has performed with artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Arnold Steinhardt, Glenn Dicterow, Kurt Masur and Zubin Mehta.
