He became an overnight activist hero when he braved toxic flood waters to rescue a friend in the Ninth Ward, New Orleans. He went on to found Common Ground, a grassroots relief organization whose slogan "Solidarity not Charity" reflected its anarchist philosophy. After two young activists were arrested at the 2008 RNC, Darby shocked friends and activists nationwide by revealing he'd been instrumental in the indictmenthe was an FBI informant.
