Do your farm dreams involve changing laws, policies, norms and the status quo? Got something in your community worth saving? Want to build something that is impossible in the current climate? Then youve got to reach beyond the boundaries of your fields and connect with others to make change. Enjoy coffee/tea and some non-contraband cookies from the Circle M kitchen - where Kriss Marion has cooked up many a legislative challenge around the table with fellow Soil Sisters and Bros, including the lawsuit that made home-baked goods legal in Wisconsin. Bring a notebook.
Children (ages 12 and over) are welcome with a ticketed adult and their own ticket (for the child).
A free copy of Renewing the Countryside: WISCONSIN will be given away to every family, couple and/or household registered for a particular workshop (a $26.95 value); the free book giveaway is limited to one copy per residential address of attendees.
About Kriss Marion:
Kriss Marion is a certified organic vegetable farmer, shepherdess, innkeeper, teacher, chef and all-around farm-to-fork enthusiast. She owns and runs Circle M Market Farm, a field-to-table bed and breakfast, which is located in Lafayette County just 45 minutes southwest of Madison. The farm is home to hogs, steers, chickens, goats, ducks, cats, dogs and Jacob and Merino sheep which provide wool for sale and fiber art classes. Kriss is a transplant to country life, having moved from Chicago over ten years ago. In her adopted village of Blanchardville, population 825, that makes her brand new in town. She says her neighbors haven't always understood what she was up to on her little funny farm, and watched with amusement at first, but gave advice so generously that the transition from city life to farming has been all joy.
