Forest Lawn Cemetery History Tour
Back by popular demand for the 12th year!
In its 159 years, Forest Lawn Cemetery has become an enduring chronicle of local history and a cultural landmark to local accomplishment. Considering the impact of these accomplishments on America and the world, the cemetery is a national asset and fully deserves its designation in the New York State and National Registers of Historic Places. On this tour guests travel through Forest Lawn's historic grounds by air-conditioned motor coaches to hear stories about some of the 155,000 people buried there.
Some of the highlights include views of the natural landscape which is part of Western New York's largest arboretum, magnificent architecture, and memorials and works of art by notable local and international artists. Guests may also encounter a few of Forest Lawn's residents that will gladly give you some insight as to their contributions to Buffalo and, in some cases, to the nation. This journey through time and Buffalo's history culminates at the famous Blocher Memorial. The tour begins at the Delaware and Delavan gates of Forest Lawn and lasts approximately 1 1/2 hours.
