Pan-Am Tour
The 1901 Pan-American Exposition is a significant part of Buffalo's history that brought international recognition to the "Queen City of the Lakes." The Pan-Am tour is a two-part program that starts with a 45 minute docent-led tour where stories, interactive displays and exhibits about the Pan-Am will be featured.
Guests will then travel by air-conditioned motor coach to historic Forest Lawn Cemetery where they will learn about some of the most famous people responsible for this important extravaganza. At Forest Lawn, visitors will meet "permanent residents" such as Dr. Matthew Mann, the gynecologist who operated on President McKinley, and writer Marian DeForest, who played a prominent role in the 1900s at the Buffalo Express Newspaper. Bottled water and a snack will be provided. The tour is 2 1/2 hours long.
Tours start and end at Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society's Resource Center located at 459 Forest Avenue, across from the Richardson Complex. There is plenty of free street parking or you may park in the lot on the Richardson Complex grounds. Follow parking signs off Forest Avenue.
