Benjy and Heather Wertheimer have been leading kirtan (sacred chanting) worldwide since 2001 as the duo Shantala. They are known for their special gift of bringing the audience into a vast and loving experience through their unique blend of exquisite voices with instruments of India and the West. Together they create music with beauty, passion, and reverence. Heather and Benjy have released five beautiful and well-loved albums of sacred chant music since 2003, including Living Waters, Jaya, LIVE in love, Sri, and The Love Window.

Shantala has performed and recorded internationally with such sacred music luminaries as Krishna Das, Deva Premal & Miten, and Jai Uttal. They were named as one of the top Kirtan Wallahs to Watch by Yoga + Joyful Living Magazine. Kirtan is a celebration of spirit through the chanting of sacred names, carrying the audience into a state of heightened awareness, bliss, and devotion. The audience is invited to participate fully through call-and-response chanting, dance, and meditation.

Steve Gorns bansuri is featured on the 2011 Grammy winning recording, Miho  Journey to the Mountain, with Dhruba Ghosh and the Paul Winter Consort, as well as the Academy Award winning Documentary film, Born into Brothels. He has performed Indian Classical Music and new American Music on the bansuri bamboo flute in concerts and festivals throughout the world. He has often performed in India and his concert with Ravi Shankars disciple, Barun Kumar Pal was televised throughout throughout the country. In 2013, he was awarded the Pandit Jasraj Rotary Club of Hyderabad Award for Cross Cultural Achievement.

Sean Frenette is a guitaris/bard/multi-instrumentalist/composer/artist. His multi-faceted creative pursuits have led to many adventures including the opportunity to share music in many wonderful places with many beautiful people: three times at Carnegie Hall; in 2006 with a host of musical pioneers led by Edgar Meyer and Mike Marshall; in 2009 with master Indian musician Zakir Hussain and a coterie of young virtuosos; and in May of 2010 with composer/conductor John Adams and Ensemble ACJW (Academy, Carnegie, Juilliard, and Weill institute). Since moving to Portland, Oregon, Sean plays with Matt Butler's Everyone Orchestra, kirtan artists Benjy and Heather Werthheimer of Shantala, Dave Stringer, singer Lindsey Stormo, and as a soloist.
