Achieving a Living Home
You asked for it and here it is! Join Sustainable Connections as we host a half day workshop focused on raising the sustainability bar in residential construction with James Arnold. James will share philosophical, technical, and case studies of success implementing the Passive House and Living Building Challenge certifications on a residential scale.
James is president of JRA Green Building, a family-owned green construction firm in Portland. JRA Green Building builds to meet the most advanced measure of sustainability in the built environment possible today. James has been a fundamental regional partner in implementing the International Living Future's Institute Living Building Challenge, which provides a framework for design, construction and the symbiotic relationship between people and all aspects of the built environment. James is also a certified Passive House consultant, a certification program that represents one of the highest energy standards available for buildings today, with the promise of reducing heating energy consumption by up to 90%. This half day workshop will offer the highest quality education available with secrets from the field; including smart building assemblies, rainwater harvesting, mechanical systems, lighting, Red List compliance, nurturing subcontractors and suppliers, and integrated sales and design for communicating the value added benefits of these concepts. This is a workshop that is not to be missed! We will close the afternoon with a little networking and local brew too.
