Title: ADA Learning from Sandy and Katrina: Access Coded in an Emergency
Recent disasters in the Northeast and New Orleans have provided real tests of model construction codes. This seminar will be focusing on accessibility requirements as they relate to life safety and emergency management during these disasters in particular, as well as what relevant accessibility regulations say about more commonly anticipated emergencies and how facilities are to perform.
Attendees will discuss and understand ~
The effects Hurricanes Sandy and Katrina had on people with disabilities.
Access code requirements relative to communication systems during an emergency.
Access code requirements relative to emergency evacuation systems.
Access code requirements relative to emergency shelter and disaster preparedness.
