It almost didn't happen: Meredith Willson wrote 30 drafts over eight years before "The Music Man" finally saw the light of day in 1957 and even then insiders were convinced the show was too hokey for Broadway. But Willson's charming con man, Harold Hill, not only dazzled the small town of River City, Iowa; for nearly 60 years his 76 trombones have led the parade of a great American musical. In this multi-media concert presented by The Musical Theater Project, you'll hear all of the songs introduced by Robert Preston, Barbara Cook and the Buffalo Bills including "Goodnight, My Someone," "Ya Got Trouble," "Till There Was You" and "Lida Rose" and the fascinating story of the musical's creation.
