Boston Mandolins - Quartet
This delightful concert showcases the many sounds and styles of the mandolin and features duets and solos by Boston Mandolins director August Watters and his special guest, mandolin master Emanuele Cappellotto from Italy. Ben Torrey, Sarah Bell, and Celeste McClain complete the ensemble.
Boston Mandolins specializies in classical music composed for all the instruments of the mandolin family: mandolin, mandola and mandocello, as well as guitar. The quartet are led by Berklee School of Music faculty member August Watters, and include some of New England's premier mandolin teachers and performers. You'll be treated to music both composed and improvised that draws on the instrument's rich classical traditions, folk music sources, and today's ubiquitous multi-stylistic influences.
ABOUT AUGUST WATTERS:
As director of Boston Mandolins and other projects, August Watters draws on both improvisational and composed musical forms. August is an Emmy-award winning composer, mandolinist and guitarist with more than 25 years of performance and composition experience in varied styles. We hope to have an informal music session after the concert; you are invited to bring your instrument!
