Ian Carey Quintet +1 at the Sound Room
The Ian Carey Quintet has been performing across the Bay Area for close to 10 years, and they are pleased to bring the expanded, 6-piece version of the acclaimed group to The Sound Room to celebrate the release of their third album, "Roads & Codes," on Kabocha Records. Trumpeter/composer Ian Carey will be joined by his long-time collaborators, pianist Adam Shulman, bassist Fred Randolph, drummer Jon Arkin, and (from New York) flutist and tenor saxophonist Evan Francis, as well as the group's newest member, alto saxophonist Kasey Knudsen. The group will be performing music from the album, which includes Carey's innovative original compositions as well as new arrangements of music by Stravinsky, Charles Ives and Neil Young. The show will also feature a display of original artwork created for the album by Carey.
