Arthur Smiths Comedy Kick-off
with Nick Doody, Daliso Chaponda, Janice Phayre, Dan March adn Martin Dimery.
Veteran performer, Grumpy Old Man and Bath Comedy Fest regular Arthur Smith hosts a night of utterly splendid comedy - the biggest show at the Festival and a truly great way to spend your Easter Sunday night, starring a variety of top performers at the Fest's new favourite venue. Here's a little information on the line-up for this showcase:
Nick Doody is one of the brightest talents on the comedy circuit, as well as being an engaging live performer and a prolific comedy writer for TV and radio. Sharp, topical and not afraid to say what he thinks, his brand of intelligent, honest and incisive comedy has won him fans all over the world. "Simply the best unadulterated, gimmick-free hour of pure stand-up I've seen so far this Fringe." ***** Chortle "All hail Nick Doody...pure comedy gold" ***** Metro
Malawian comedian Daliso Chaponda thinks Westerners are crazy but to be perfectly honest, Africans are even crazier. He covers corruption, tribalism, colonialism, HIV epidemics, absolute dictatorships, ivory smuggling, witch doctors and more. His tour show "Laughrica" has already been across Africa and now the UK.
Janice Phayre is a talented actress and comedian with a highly energetic and exciting stand up style. Tongue-in-cheek, and a little bit naughty, she's a favourite at slubs across the uK and Europe. "Phayre dominates the room through sheer force of personality...energised, impish charm...she's simply a force to be reckoned with." - Chortle
Dan March is a stand-up comedian, comedy writer, actor and one third of acclaimed sketch troupe The Real MacGuffins (see Sat 30th March at the Ring O Bells). With various TV credits including once selling the Queen Vic in Eastenders, he has recently been seen in The Bleak Shop Of Stuff and Miranda.
Performing a special preview of his show Shakespeare Rattle and Roll, (Fri 5th April at the Assembly Inn), Martin Dimery (Sgt Pepper's Only Dartboard Band) provides a musical take on Shakespeare's songs and verse in the style of various rock n roll heroes and tonight is guaranteed to leave you hungry for more.
