This event presents some of the most exciting film work being made by contemporary female Chinese artists as part of the collaborative programme NOW. Addressing notions of modernity, tradition and technique, the films range of Liu Yis pen-and-ink watercolour animation Origin of Species (2013) to Shiyuan Lius animated twitter exchange Best Friends Forever (2017). Female artists in China have long been left at the fringes of art historical debate. NOW aims to re-open a dialogue on the way female Chinese artists are positioning themselves today. The film programme is curated by Bren OCallaghan, HOME, Manchester. 5.30pm - 7.00pm
