Teen Benefit for Puerto Rico
The Teen Benefit for Puerto Rico is a fun winter evening of food and music with friends.
Proceeds will go to help families in Puerto Rico who lost so much during and after Hurricane Maria. A mom in Irvington, native to Puerto Rico, will be traveling there in February 2018 with several teens and will work with Caraspr.org to use the funds to purchase mattresses, linens, and building materials to reconstruct homes in Vega Baja and the communities Los Naranjos and La Trocha.
Buy a ticket or two and help people in Puerto Rico as well as support local teens' creative expression and journey to becoming change-makers.
Two local chefs, Alex, from France, and Peter, from Germany, along with others, will prepare . . .

SOUTH CHURCH'S TEEN GROUP Our goal is to cultivate young people's respect and compassion for others and to empower them to be agents of change.
We do this by monthly gatherings that include team-building challenges, cooking and eating together, volunteering for local helping organizations, and developing relationships with adults who share what's important to them.
The teens have carried and sorted food for the Dobbs Ferry Food Pantry, participated in a Midnight Run Christmas Eve on the Streets, and investigated and initiated sustainable shifts on the South Church campus including greater recycling and composting.
They've talked to Janet about what inspires her to work with Coming Home, a program that supports people reentering the world after prison. They've listened to Molly of the Dobbs Ferry Food Pantry speak about hunger in our towns. And they've sat down with teens from CLUSTER, an organization in Yonkers that South Church has collaborated with for many years on the Martin Luther King, Jr. Brunch.
The teen group has made pretzels and pizza, cookies and crepes, paddled across the Hudson with the Yonkers Padding & Rowing Club and participated in a Tashlich with the Shaarei Tikvah. More to come! All are welcome. Email: office@southchurch.org
